Privacy policy for Merid

In short
Merid does not collect personal data. There is no account, no servers, no analytics tools and no third-party software. Everything the app calculates stays on your device.

Data on your device
With your permission, Merid reads health data from Apple Health, such as heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, respiratory rate and workouts. If you turn on cycle-aware recovery, cycle data is added. You choose what Merid may read.
Calculated scores, your profile, your journal, your experiments and the coach history are stored only on your device. The coach uses Apple's language model on the device. Merid transfers nothing to us or to third parties.
Merid only writes to Apple Health when you start a workout in the Merid app on your Apple Watch. That workout is then saved.
Values are exchanged directly between your iPhone and your Apple Watch through Apple's system services.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. Merid receives no payment data. Apple's privacy terms apply.
Crash reports
If you agreed in your system settings, Apple shares anonymized crash reports with developers. Merid itself collects no reports.
This website
The website meridapp.com uses no analytics tools and loads its fonts from its own server. It only sets a cookie if you change the language in the footer: the cookie remembers that choice for one year and nothing else. The site picks its language from the country of your IP address, and we store nothing for this. When you visit, our hosting provider Vercel Inc. processes technically necessary access data such as IP address, time and page requested in order to deliver and protect the site. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation. Vercel may also process this data in the USA.
Your rights and deletion
Since we process no data about you, we have nothing to hand over or delete on request. You can delete everything yourself: in Merid under Profile → Data and export → Delete everything, or by deleting the app. Your data in Apple Health stays untouched.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
